Duingt occupies a small peninsula on the western shore of Lake Annecy, its medieval Château des Comtes de l'Isle rising almost directly out of the water — the single most photographed spot on the lake's 42-kilometre loop.
The village sits on the voie verte, a paved greenway built over the old Annecy–Albertville railway line, running flat and car-free along most of the western shore. Just past the château, a lit tunnel — the old rail passage — carries the path through rock rather than around the château's tight hairpin.
The greenway carries more than 10,000 users a day in high season; ride before 9am and the lake belongs to almost no one.
For riders wanting more than the flat loop, the Col de la Forclaz climbs out of the valley just south of Duingt to a paragliding launch point with a full panorama over the lake and the Bauges massif — a short, sharp contrast to the gentle greenway below.
