Caimari

Caimari is the northern trailhead of Mallorca's Tramuntana climbs, starting point of the Coll de Sa Batalla on the road to Lluc and Sa Calobra.

Caimari is a small village at the northern foot of the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage mountain range, and the traditional starting point for one of the island's better-loved ascents.

The Coll de Sa Batalla climbs roughly eight kilometres out of the village, at a manageable average gradient near 5%, through pine forest and switchbacks up to the monastery town of Lluc — a climb every rider heading toward Sa Calobra or Pollença from this side of the island will cross.

A café sits at the summit, and another two in Caimari itself have become fixtures of the island's cycling culture — Sa Tafona for almond cake, Sa Ruta Verda for juices and homemade energy bars, both with bike racks out front for exactly the crowd they serve.

Caimari's position — flat approach roads on one side, serious Tramuntana climbing on the other — has made it a quiet but well-used base for the same winter cycling traffic that fills Alcúdia and Pollença each year.
